Insight, form and news ahead of Sunday's clash between Hellas Verona and Cagliari.
#1. Head to Head. When Cagliari and Hellas Verona met at the end of September, it finished 1-1 (although both sides had plenty of opportunities to win). Lucas Castro opened the scoring for Cagliari with a glancing header in the first half, while a defence howler gifted Davide Faraoni the second half equaliser.
#2. The form book. Hellas Verona are now nine games unbeaten. With 16 points in 2020 they are one of the in-form teams of Serie A. Cagliari, who started the season so well, have managed just three points in 2020, losing to Napoli, Genoa, Milan and Juve in recent weeks. Despite this, the Sardinian side are just three points behind Hellas in the classifica and remain in contention for the Europa League place.
#3. On the march with the Hellas Army. With a classic Sunday afternoon kickoff time and the city still in celebratory mode from Friday's carnival parade, expect a vibrant atmosphere at the Bentegodi.
#4. Runners and riders. For Hellas, Veloso is suspended, Borini is out with a muscle strain and Pazzini has also been ruled out through injury. Di Carmine also remains a doubt, so expect to see Pessina drop back into Veloso's holding role or perhaps even a rare appearance from Badu. With limited options up front, Stepinski may also make a rare appearance. For Cagliari, Nainggolan returns to the squad after suspension and he will be hoping to reverse the Sardinian's abysmal run of form - they haven't won since the beginning of December and former Chievo coach Rolando Maran has his own selection issues to deal with.
#5. Pazzini makes it fifty. On Thursday evening a presentation was held in the city's San Zeno Piazza as Giampaolo Pazzini was given a special award in recognition of his 50th goal for Hellas Verona. Finally, a special mention for the Hellas Verona Primavera squad (under 20s), who have qualified for the final of the Coppa Italia for the first time in the club's history. The Veronese youngsters will face Fiorentina in the final on 10 April.
